As we wrap up nearly a decade of Audio Under the Stars, we’ve made the tough decision to bring our listening series to an end.
We have spent much of the last year assessing what has changed since 2020 -personally, professionally, and in the larger context of grassroots arts organizing- and we came to the conclusion that this project has reached the limit of its lifespan.
We are so grateful for each of you who has joined us along the way, from the earliest days in the backyard of a tiny art gallery in East Durham, to the groves and garden of the Center for Documentary Studies, to the Great Lawn at Durham Central Park.
We’ve shared so many memorable stories, but what stands out most is the way it felt to experience those together; savoring the highs, sighing over the lows, finding community in the twilight and the ephemeral magic of listening. It has truly been a gift to be able to create this unequaled experience over the years.
